Witsie's Cave, Lehaeng la Wetsi, is a sacred site above Monontsha in the eastern Free State. It is named after Wetsi, grandson of Chief Seeka of the Makholokoe.
The Makholokoe are a Basotho people, and much of their history is held in this place: their own story, and what passed between them and the Boers of the Free State through the 1800s.
The Makholokoe claim the cave as an imprint of who they are. It remains one of the important landmarks in the Province, and it is treated as a sacred place, not a viewpoint.
